The NFL coach has to be a master of many trades. He is a master strategist, confidant, friend, boss, motivator, policeman, moderator, diplomat, and ultimate football fan. NFL coaches get little rest, often working more than 100 hours each week. If the players are the body of the football team, the coach is certainly the head. A good coach can get players to play to their full potential and make them think they did it on their own. It is worthwhile to examine some NFL coaches names that have stood out in football history.
One of the best known and respected NFL coaches names is Don Shula. He led the Miami Dolphins to two Superbowl victories. He also coached the Dolphins to an undefeated 1972 season. Shula holds the record for most career NFL wins with 328 games. Shula's genius was apparent by the number of other NFL records he holds, including total victories (347), a 100% winning percentage in 1972, most consecutive seasons coached (33), and most games coached (526). He was honored among NFL coaches names by having various venues, streets, and tournaments named after him.
Among recent NFL coaches names, John Madden stands out. Hired as the Oakland Raiders head coach in 1969, Madden became the youngest head coach among the many NFL coaches names. He lead the Oakland Raiders to victory in Superbowl XI. His staunch leadership helped establish the Raiders as a team to be reckoned with. Madden attained the highest winning percentage (75.9%) in NFL history for NFL coaches names with more than 100 career wins. He currently supplies NFL television commentary and is infamous for his habit of stating the obvious and for excessive praise of certain players.
Among famous NFL coaches names, Madden leaves an enduring legacy. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006, and is one of the few NFL coaches names to have an NFL video game named after him (Madden NFL).
Among the list of the best NFL coaches names in history is Bill Parcells. He began his football career as a college linebacker and worked his way up to head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. He gained respect among the elite list of NFL coaches names due to his "old school" style of coaching. He advocated hard-hitting defense and tight offensive ball control. Among the NFL coaches names he is known for his power running attacks and disciplined coaching style.
These are but a few facts about some of the greatest NFL coaches names in history. A great team cannot exist without a great coach. Shula, Madden, and Parcells will forever remain among the ranks of the greatest NFL coaches names.
